VCA and training

Training is an important criterion for SCC certification. For instance, all operational employees must hold an SCC 'Basic Safety' diploma. All employees deployed for high-risk tasks must have specific knowledge and skills related to the specific high-risk tasks they have to perform. All persons supervising operational employees must hold an SCC diploma 'Safety for Operational Managers'. All employees performing high-risk tasks must also have received specific education and training for this purpose.

Safety training for operational managers

To ensure proper integration of the safety concept, it is necessary that all operational managers have successfully completed HSE training and have the required qualifications. They must demonstrate this through an SCC-accredited 'diploma'. Specifically, all persons in charge of operational staff must hold an SCC 'Safety for Operational Managers' diploma, issued by a recognised examination centre, which is not older than ten years (counting from the examination date). SCC diplomas are personal property!

SCC diplomas (Basic Safety SCC, Safety for Operational Managers SCC, risk tasks, etc.) are personal property. The employer has no right to withhold them if the employee changes jobs, even if he has paid for the training. By the way, this applies not only to diplomas, certificates or attestations of safety training but to all training. The law is clear on this. The employee remains the holder of his diplomas or certificates and must have the original or a copy certified by the training body.

Requesting a duplicate SCC diploma

A duplicate SCC diploma can only be requested from the examination centre that issued the diploma. There may be a charge for this. The non-profit association BeSaCC-VCA manages the system but cannot issue diplomas or duplicates itself. Please contact the centre concerned.

Learning outcomes and test requirements

The final and test terms "Basic Safety" and "Safety for Operational Managers SCC" are intended to define the knowledge that employees and operational managers respectively must have in the indicated areas. For managers, this knowledge comprises all elements of "Basic Safety SCC" and, in addition, specific knowledge required to fulfil the task of manager within the framework of safe work execution. The purpose of the test items is to indicate in detail what knowledge each final term comprises. The test items serve as a basis for drafting the examination questions. The final and test items relate only to the knowledge domain (no skills). Besides the training itself, the "Safety for Operational Managers" handbook is an important asset for passing. Manual Safety for Operational Managers VCA

A prevention policy only has a chance of succeeding if the commitment and involvement of the manager and all employees in a managerial position is assured. Moreover, the legislator imposes some very specific tasks on managers. As a manager, you best take those tasks seriously.
